🇲🇽Mexico Citizenship Assistance

Program Highlights

The Mexican passport is one of the most respected and powerful travel documents in Latin America — ranked among the top 25 globally. It provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 160 countries, including the Schengen Area, the UK, Japan, and much of Latin America.

Mexico allows dual citizenship, making it one of the most flexible naturalization options for global citizens, investors, and expatriates.

Whether through residency, marriage, or descent, Crayon Global helps you secure your Mexican citizenship and passport through a fully managed legal process.

Pathways to Mexican Citizenship

1. Citizenship by Descent (Jus Sanguinis)

If you were born abroad to Mexican parents, you are automatically entitled to Mexican citizenship.

  • You can apply at a Mexican consulate abroad or at the Civil Registry in Mexico.

  • Once your birth is registered in Mexico, you are a Mexican citizen by birth, eligible immediately for a Mexican passport.

2. Citizenship by Marriage

If you have been married to a Mexican citizen for at least two years and have lived together in Mexico during that time, you may apply for citizenship.

  • You must have legal residency in Mexico.

  • Proof of marriage and cohabitation is required.

3. Citizenship by Naturalization (Residency-Based)

Foreign residents of Mexico may apply for citizenship after 2–5 years of continuous legal residency.

  • The standard requirement is 5 years of residency.

  • This is reduced to 2 years for applicants from Latin American or Iberian countries, or those with a Mexican spouse or child.

  • Applicants must demonstrate at least 18 months of physical presence in Mexico within the 24 months preceding the application.

Required Documents

  • Valid passport and resident card

  • Birth certificate (apostilled and translated into Spanish if issued abroad)

  • Proof of legal residency in Mexico

  • Proof of address in Mexico

  • Clean criminal record (from Mexico and home country)

  • Spanish language proficiency and basic knowledge of Mexican history and culture (tested during the interview)

What You Get

  • Full Mexican citizenship, including:

    • The right to live, work, and vote in Mexico.

    • Visa-free access to over 160 countries.

    • Access to Mexico’s public healthcare and education systems.

    • The ability to hold dual citizenship.

  • A Mexican passport valid for 10 years.

How It Works

Step 1 – Eligibility & Documentation Review

We assess your path to citizenship (descent, marriage, or residency) and verify documentation.

Step 2 – Application Filing

Our Mexico-based legal team prepares and submits your application with the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs (SRE).

Step 3 – Interview & Exam

We assist you in preparing for your Spanish language and civics exam (if applicable).

Step 4 – Oath & Passport

Once approved, you’ll take an oath of allegiance to Mexico, after which you can apply for your Mexican passport.

Total timeline varies depending on the route — generally 6–12 months for descent or marriage, and 12–24 months for naturalization.
