Why Choose Mexico Residency
Mexico’s residency programs are among the most flexible in Latin America — offering both economic and lifestyle benefits without the complexity of many European or Caribbean programs.
Highlights:
Fast processing times (typically 4–6 weeks).
Ability to transition from temporary to permanent residency after 4 years.
No mandatory stay requirements.
Work permit optional.
Wide consular network for easy access from anywhere in the world.
How It Works
Step 1 – Apply for Your Mexican Visa (Outside Mexico)
Apply at a Mexican Consulate or Embassy.
The visa (a sticker) is affixed to your passport and valid for one entry within six months.
Step 2 – Convert Visa to Resident Card (Inside Mexico)
Upon arrival, you must visit the Instituto Nacional de MigraciĂłn (INM) within 30 days to exchange your visa for a Resident Card.
This card grants your legal residency rights in Mexico.
Crayon Global’s concierge service ensures smooth processing and accompaniment during your INM appointments.
Temporary Resident Visa Requirements
The Temporary Residency allows you to live in Mexico for up to 4 years, renewable annually.
You can qualify through any of the following:
1. Income:
Minimum monthly income: USD 3,319
Add USD 1,106 for each dependent.
Proof: 6 months of bank statements or pay slips.
2. Savings or Investments:
Minimum average balance: USD 55,317 over 12 months.
3. Real Estate Ownership:
Property in Mexico valued above USD 442,539 (in applicant’s name).
Requirements vary slightly by consulate; Crayon Global will confirm the exact threshold for your jurisdiction.
Work authorization may be added after arrival through an INM application.
Permanent Resident Visa Requirements
The Permanent Residency is a lifetime status that never expires.
You may qualify directly if you meet any of the following:
Monthly Pension Income: USD 5,532 or more (plus USD 500 per dependent), proven via 6 months of bank or pension statements.
Savings or Investments: Average balance of USD 221,269 over the past 12 months.
If you receive a U.S. Social Security pension, an official statement from the Social Security Administration confirming the amount is required.
Many consulates offer permanent residency directly to retirees or high-net-worth applicants.
